Nafeessa Founder & Spiritual Director, Ring Shout 108
Born in Miami, Florida. Rooted in African American Southern Hoodoo tradition. Built by the lessons passed down at her grandmother’s feet and refined over a lifetime of dreaming, seeking, and doing the work.
Nafeessa Founder & Spiritual Director, Ring Shout 108

Where It Began Before There Was A Name For It. Long before La’Niya Nafeessa called herself a spiritual practitioner, a teacher, or a founder, she was a child sitting at the feet of her grandmother. Those were not casual visits. They were apprenticeships. Her grandmother taught her how to work with the Bible beyond simply reading it. How to pray with intention. How to dress candles. How to create spiritual oils. How to recognize signs. How to understand that the spiritual world and the physical world are not as separate as most people believe. Those lessons became the foundation of everything.
From an early age it was clear that La’Niya experienced the world differently. She is a dreamer. She receives messages through dreams. She knows things before they happen. She feels the presence of spirits. She senses energies, emotions, and undercurrents that many people overlook. For years she struggled to understand why she could see, feel, and know things that others could not. Over time she stopped questioning the gift and started learning how to work with it responsibly.
She taught me things that many people today would call old-fashioned. I have come to understand them as sacred.
The Journey The Path Deepens. Her path led her deeper into Hoodoo, Ancextral traditions, scripture, divination, prayer, and spiritual development. What she discovered was that much of what people call magic today was simply wisdom that elders carried, protected, and passed down through generations. The older she became, the more she understood that this work was not about prediction. It was about connection. Connection to Spirit. Connection to Ancextors. Connection to purpose. Connection to self.
That longing shaped much of the journey. It taught patience. It taught faith. It taught that not every answer arrives when we demand it. Sometimes answers arrive through dreams. Sometimes through signs. Sometimes through scripture. Sometimes through a stranger’s words. Sometimes through life itself. That search for understanding eventually became Ring Shout 108.
One of the greatest struggles of my life has not been learning to hear Spirit. It has been learning to live with silence. When I call out to my people, the people whose blood runs through my veins, I want them to answer.
The Gifts What She Carries.
She is a practitioner of African American Southern Hoodoo. A diviner. An herbalist. A writer. A teacher. A keeper of old knowledge and a builder of new systems. Her gifts are not separate from her work. They are the work. She was built for precision, discipline, and transmission. Made to speak to community about where they come from. Made to preserve what was designed to be forgotten. She is a Virgo Rising. A Gemini Sun conjunct the Midheaven. A Life Path 5. Born in Miami. Rooted in the South. Called to New Orleans. Moving on the timeline the Ancextors set long before she had the language to name it.

“I did not create Ring Shout 108 because I wanted another spiritual business. I created it because I believe our traditions matter. Our stories matter. Our Ancextors matter.”
Why Ring Shout 108 Exists Built For The Ones Who Remember. Too much of our wisdom has been forgotten, watered down, commercialized, or disconnected from its roots. Ring Shout 108 exists to help preserve, teach, and honor the traditions that helped our people survive, heal, prosper, and find meaning in a world that was not always built for us. Everything created here, whether it is a reading, a prayer, a ritual, a course, a spiritual product, or a book, is rooted in that mission.
This is not about fantasy. This is not about fear. This is not about dependency. This is about empowerment. It is about helping people understand themselves more deeply, reconnect with Spirit, strengthen their relationship with their Ancextors, and move through life with greater wisdom and purpose.
What La’Niya Nafeessa Is Many Things. One Mission.
A StudentOf the old ways. Of the elders who came before. Of the tradition that survived what was designed to destroy it.
A DreamerWho receives messages through the veil. Who has always known things before they arrived. Who learned to trust what the body and spirit know before the mind catches up.
A TeacherWho believes that understanding comes before performance. That history belongs in the lesson. That our people deserve education rooted in their own lineage.
A KeeperOf stories. Of traditions. Of the materia magica and the prayers and the practices that kept people alive and dignified when nothing else could.
A SeekerWho has never stopped asking questions. Who sits with silence even when it is uncomfortable. Who knows that the longing for the Ancextors is itself a form of prayer.
A BuilderOf institutions, not brands. Of systems that outlast the founder. Of a body of work meant to serve generations that have not yet arrived.
